MED.E.A., formerly Pegaso International, was established in 2015 by Pegaso University. Located in Malta, an island with a strategic geographical position, MED.E.A. aims to become an intercultural educational hub spanning the southern shores of the Mediterranean, thanks to a state-of-the art in-house platform.

The primary objective of this organisation is to operate as a legally recognized higher education institution authorised to confer academic qualifications. To this end, MED.E.A. makes use of modern technology and innovative educational methodologies in order to cater for the different yet demanding needs of today’s society.

MED.E.A. employs resources and expertise of its parent entity Pegaso University, including professors, academic staff, research resources and knowhow, as well as industry and other stakeholders, networks with other universities and education institutions, through collaboration agreements (copies of which are in MFHEA files) and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in Pegaso International`s, currently MED.E.A.’s name with a number of universities in the Euro-Med region.

It is structured on a model of advanced education that has proved to be an instrument for the dissemination of knowledge and research, and has seized the increasingly rapid changes in the education sector supported by technological advancements, with the belief that this is a point of reference for a Euro-Med knowledge-based society and digital economy.

MED.E.A.’s overarching raison d’être, amply embraces the need to increase the levels of e-learning to make education more accessible and open to all, placing strong emphasis on the quality of learning, pedagogical approaches and tools. This mission has been rendered highly relevant by the recent global circumstances.

The COVID-19 pandemic, brought about a global crisis not only in the health sector but also in the socio-economic sphere, revealing a significant demand for education- practically a basic necessity. This metamorphosis of education has accelerated the development of e-Learning impacting the delivery and generation of knowledge which were unprecedented until only very recently, for which MED.E.A. is well-equipped to provide for.

A key partner in the development of this study programme is the Cochin Implant Institute in India, directed by Prof. Dr Jaibin George. Located at JJ Tower, South Kalamassery, Cochin, Kerala, India- 682033, Cochin Implant Institute is a renowned institute for Clinical Research and Higher Education in Dentistry. It is addressed to dentists, dental hygienists, dental clinical assistants, and paramedics in order to educate professionals in prevention and care in the dental field.

Continuous education through courses in dentistry is fundamental for anyone engaged in the health sector to stay updated with the technological evolution and the fine-tuning of increasingly efficient treatments which are becoming always less invasive.

This mission is the core of the Cochin Implant Institute where experienced professionals transmit their competences to students and professionals who wish to further pursue their know-how in the discipline. The Institute organises university master courses in dentistry, specialisation courses, and educational practice courses on patients, as well as higher education courses. All the professionals possess a long and qualified experience in the organisation and execution of university courses which guarantee high quality teaching levels. The didactic offer covers all dental disciplines with the participation of highly qualified Italian and foreign lecturers.

The curriculum covers a wide range of most interesting themes of modern dentistry: implantology, oral surgery, periodontology, orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry, legal dentistry, conservative dentistry, laser dentistry, oral hygiene, treatment of special patients, computer assisted implantology, regenerative and reconstructive dental surgery as well as research methods.

During the Master’s course, students will be supervised and guided by an expert medical team of doctors in collaboration with the Cochin Implant Institute. In addition, having regard to the agreement in force between MED.E.A. and Pegaso University (both members of the Multiversity Group), for the activities in presence MED.E.A. will avail of dedicated classrooms, equipped for the purposes of training activities within the healthcare courses delivered by Pegaso University.
